School Champions are representatives within New Brunswick High Schools. Here are just a few examples of how school champions can support NBTAP Students. You can:

  • be an informed advocate for both pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship opportunities for students
  • liaison between the school and the NBTAP Pre-Apprenticeship Coordinator
  • assist students with the application process, resume writing, and interview preparation;
  • become an informed advocate for the NBTAP Program;
  • distribute ongoing program information and progression
  • attend information sessions to learn more about the Program;
  • interact with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Post-Secondary Education Training and Labour, as well as Employers;
  • act as a liaison to provide program and employer information to students;
  • participate in visit to employment sites; and,
  • help support students in career decision-making around skilled trades occupations

As part of the application process, students are required to prepare a cover letter, with a resume. My Blueprint provides students with a way to develop an effective and competitive resume. New Brunswick Construction Safety Association (NBCSA):

Did you know the NBCSA provides Free course offerings for students and teachers? Some employers will require students to complete courses/training prior to commencement of employment, such as Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) and Safety Orientation. This will be part of the orientation package for students. To find out more information about this valuable resource, please visit the Construction Safety Associations website.
